Joseph is proof positive that being raised in a dysfunctional family need not destroy the hope of a full and meaningful life. God did say that” I know the plans for your life and my plans are to prosper you and not harm you, He did not say that it depends on your family or what color you are or how much education you have. The term dysfunctional refers to a home that is not functioning as God intended. It could be the result of divorce, miscommunication, addictions, child abuse, sexual abuse, spouse abuse.sibling rivalry. The home in which Joseph was raised was comprised of a family filled with angry, jealous and deceitful people. In other words the house was full of haters. God could have taken Joseph out of that situation, but He did not somethings we have to go through but if God allowed to happen it must be for a purpose, God will use everything in your life for His glory and for our good. God’s purpose are being fulfilled in those who trust Him even in times of great despair. Has life turned out as you expected? Probably not. We all have some surprises along the way. We sometimes may wonder who is in control. The only thing we can accurately conclude about the consistency of life is that it is inconsistent. But when we trust and are obedient to God His purpose will be fulfilled in our lives through every circumstance. We call that providence. Providence is the belief that the events of our lives are not ruled by chance or luck but by our sovereign God and loving Lord who works out His plan and purpose in the lives of all his children. God goal for His Children is to one day have them come home with Him and live forever , were there is no more crying, no more sickness, no more sad days. But while we are on this earth He wants us to become more like Jesus so others can see Him in us. We have to let our light shine. Joseph life is our example, he suffered in the hands of his brothers they sold him into slavery, he ended up in Egypt where he remained for twenty seven years. Seventeen of those years he spent in prison having been falsely accused of an immoral act. Joseph could have easily gave up on God and life. But He trusted God, do you trust God when things are going your way? God never forgot Joseph and exalted him to a position second only to Pharaoh. God has not forgotten about you, He see you struggling, He understand your pain, His grace is sufficient. Hold on God will exalt you in do time. Later in life it is clear that Joseph understood God’s control over all circumstances. He told his brothers do not be grieved or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life. And as for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good. Josephs remarkable response to his circumstances is due to his awareness that God is in control overruling even their vicious intentions and actions. Many wallow in bitterness, depression and anger over circumstances. Remember God is in control in your life. Trust in God’s Love.
