DEEP WATER, FAILURE IS TEMPORARY. NEVER FOREVER

Luke 5:4

When Jesus finished speaking, He told Simon, ‘Take the boat into deep water, and lower your nets to catch some fish. Simon answered, Teacher,we worked hard all night and caught nothing, But if you say so, I’ll lower the nets.

It was dawn on the sea of Galilee. The warming rays of the sun was melting away the early melting mists. Tired. Bedraggled, discouraged fishermen were coming back to shore after a long night of labor without any results.
Most of us can relate to the fishermen, we have prayed all night, all month, all year long, but the cancer is still there, the marriage is still messed up, the financial situation has not changed, my child is still in the streets, my ministry has not grown , my joy has not come back. God you said if i followed you life would be different. God I am tired, what do I do?
Jesus told Peter launch out into the deep and let down your nets. Peter shrugged his shoulders and said, but Lord, we have taken absolutely nothing, Peter was confused, Jesus you want us to go back in the same water, the water were there is no fish? We know that there is no fish in the water, Jesus we know how to fish this is our profession we have been fishing all our lives. We know you can preach and perform miracles but fishing? Peter was very reluctant he did not want to fail again, he did not want to waste his time, have you ever been at this point in your life? You have tried everything that you know but still a big ‘F’. We must do what Peter did, He listen to Jesus, He had Faith in Jesus.
They had tried it their way and failed. And that’s what happens when we try it our way. Proverbs 3:6 ‘ In all your ways acknowledge God and He shall direct your paths. We can not put our confidence in our own understanding. How can we Acknowledge God? First we must acknowledge His existence, Hebrews 11:6 says, And without faith it is impossible to please God and He rewards those who seek Him. Simple belief, this belief must be a belief in everything about God as revealed in Scripture. It is impossible to believe just one thing about God and not all things. Peter did not want to go back out in the water but he must have had faith in God’s Word. Like what it says in Philippians 4:19 ‘ And my God will supply all your needs. Like Psalm 37:25 ‘ I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. Like Philippians 4:13 ‘ I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me. Like Jeremiah 29:11 ‘ For i know the plans I have for you, ‘says the Lord. They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Like Romans 8:37 ‘ No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And i am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Jesus said go back out, Peter said i do not want to, but if you say so Jesus I will, if it would have been any one else telling me this I would have not gone back out. Peter knew Jesus would never disappoint him, he knew that Jesus had the final word, he knew that the wind would obey Jesus, he knew that God parted the Red Sea, he knew God could do anything so if Jesus said that there is fish in the water althought he tried before then there must be fish in the water. It’s like you having 0 in your bank account and Jesus said check it again and having 1 million dollars in there. Have faith in Jesus.
Peter turned around and did it Jesus way. He launched out into the deep. He must have not been deep enough the first time, but God knew were the fish was hidding, He can see what you can not see, His vision is better than yours.
That word deep has another meaning, we may not have our breakthrough yet because we are not deep enough with God.No intimate relationship, sure we go to Church but no relationship, we know of Him but not him. God said seek me, come after me.
If you want to know were the fish is you have to get closer enough so i can tell you. Look what happen when they showed faith and obedience to God. The results were astounding. They caught so many fish that their nets broke, they had to give some away, God is a God of more than enough, He will bless you to bless. others. God wants you to have a life of fullness. Rather than a life of failure. God wants you to have a life of peace rather than a life of pieces. I tell you that when you do it God`s way you will not go away empty. If the best is yet to come, then you must come to the best and that is Jesus.
