Psalm 46, God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be trouble, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the City of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The LORD of HOSTS is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He taketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breath the bow, and cutters the spear in sunder; he burnt the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

The idea is whatever happens, a river for physical and spiritual blessing, particularly in relation yo the millennial City of God, Jerusalem. The Lord of hosts, ultimately only king Messiah can dosuch things during his future millennial reign.
The Psalmist mangnified God as the saints sure defense at all time, he explained that God’s presence makes Zion secure from all her enemies. Thur the Psalm is incorporated in the songs of Zion, because of the centrallty of Jerusalem in its message. Because God was within her the city would not fall, (Years later, however the city did fall, because of extensive with idolatry in the Temple). The Psalmist then described God’s mighty power, by his powerful word God melts the the nations that roar against him, Though kingdom would fall Jerusalem would be safe. The Lord almighty is like a fortree a high safe place. God himself call for the people to trust in him and know that he is God, for he will be exalted throughout the earth.
