Matthew 13:1-9

A Farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed some fell along the path. vs 8 ‘ Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop, a hundred, sixty or a thirty times what was sown. He who has ears ,let him hear. We must ask ourselves a question, if we are not producing good fruit, then why are we not? Is something wrong with the seed? The seed is the word of God. The word became flesh and dwelt among us. God is the word. So we know that there is nothing wrong with the seed, which is the word , which is God. The seed is perfect. We are command to bear fruit, good fruit. John 15:8 ‘ When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. Matthew 7:16-20 ‘ By their fruit you will recognize who belongs to God. Every good tree bears good fruit. A bad tree bears bad fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Is there anything wrong with the seed? John 15:5 ‘ I am the vine ( Jesus, God, Word ,holy spirit) you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit, apart from me you can do nothing. God is the creator of the world, and yet He wants us to be apart of producing some great fruit for Him. Without the seed we can not produce any fruit, which is the word. But even with the seed, If it does not take root it will never produce anything. In the book of Isaiah 28:24 ‘ God talks about a Farmer, When a Farmer plows for planting , does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and harrowing the soil? What God is saying is we must plow before we start to plant. We must remove the hard rocks and sticks out of the way, get the ground ready. First things first. Our heart is the ground for the seed of God`s word. we must hear the word with our heart not with our ears. The reason we may not be producing this good fruit is because we are hard soil. In the field the soil gets hard when it is walked on many times. Many difficult situations seem to be putting you down. Seems like the world is out to get you, and your heart becomes hard. When your ground is hard( your heart is hard) Satan works to snatch away the seeds of the Gospel before they can take root. All bad things cannot be explained away, but that God longs to help us through bad times, to give us strength and comfort. The seed, the word of God will soft your heart, if the seed can get in there. First things first. Get the ground ready. plow the ground. David said Lord search my heart give me a clean heart, remove the rocks and the stone, remove the hurt and the bitterness. 1 Peter 2:1 ‘Therefore rid yourself of malice and deceit, hypocrisy, envy. Galatians 5:19 ‘ Get ride of the sinful nature, hatred, discord , jealous , fits of rage , selfish ambition, idolatry ,immorality, drunkenness. We must clean the heart up so the seed can go into good soil and grow. The word said if we want a 100 or 60 or 30 fold we must have good soil for the word of God to be planted in our hearts. When that word is planted deep, nothing can shake our faith. Bad times can come, but the word says God will rescue us, He will take care of us. Now we can not plow our heart and get the ground ready on our own, the holy spirit will do the work, we just have to open our heart. Once the seed is in there and growing, no more depression , no more guilt , I will start to see myself as God sees me, made in His image and know that He loves me no matter what. I AM GOOD DIRT.
