Paul told the believers gathered in Rome, that we are to be conformed to the image of his son, Romans 8:29. This a command. We are to be conformed to the image of His Son. There are people that will never enter the door of a Church they may never pick up a Bible but they must hear the word of God, they must have an encouter with God. We are not the next best thing we are the thing. Jesus said when you have seen me you have seen the Father we are as one. Jesus said if you want to know what God is like watch me. Like Father like Son.God is calling us to be Christ like, to be the reflection of Christ to the world.Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.
Do not hide who you are in Christ, not on your job, not at the party, not at the casino, not anywere. It is not sufficient to have light, we must walk in the light, and by the light. Our whole conduct should be a perpetual comment on the life we have received in Christ and it`s power. We must demonstrate the difference that having Christ in our lives makes. When we act or react in ways that are consistent with Jesus, His teachings, and His ways, and in contrast to the world and it`s ways, our light shines. When the bank teller gives us a $100.00 to much we give it back. We tell the truth even if it hurts us. We put others before ourselves. We turn the other cheek. We pray for our haters. When we go the second mile when others don`t.When we use our money to build people, rather than our people to build money. When we do the right thing when no one is looking and no one will ever know.
The great writer and Theologian C.S.Lewis put it this way ‘ once we give God permission, by surrendering our lives to Him, He will not stop that process of getting us to be like His son, the process of purifying us, no matter how painful, or unpleasant it may be. Paul understood this process. Remember his words: I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing, with the glory that will be revealed in us. Romans 8:18
The process of being purified will result in glory and honor and praise. It`s God`s purpose to refine us, to purify us. We are damons in the rough.
God desires us to be holy.He is calling us to be pure. He wants us to be Christ like. To reflect the image of His Son. Asilversmith leaves the silver over the fire and watches it. He does not stir it, He does not move it away from the flames. He watches the silver, until the moment he sees his image reflected, on it`s surface, then he removes it, from the flame. God`s work in you will not be left undone. He will complete His purpose in you. It make time, Yet have comfort that God sits and watches us over the flame. Waiting for his image to be seen in you. Who began the good work within you, will continue this work, until it is finally finished ( Philippians 1:6). Peter states this truth so very clearly. Friends do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you, but rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed. ( 1 Peter 4:12) Do not be surprised.Do not think it is strange when trials come your way. They may not feel very good. But it is often a part of the purifying process. Allow the refining fire to transform you. Allow the refining fire to burn away those impurities.
Beloved can God see his reflection in your life? Purify my heart, cleanse me from within and make me holy.
Be open to the refiners fire, yield to his will and if you do you will be renewed, you will be transformed, into the image of his Christ.
