Learn to communicate with God…….

Daily prayer, conversation to/with God, reading His word, studying and meditating on His word is some of the ways we communicate with God …………………………..

So you ask Pastor Shelia how do I do this ?

Let’s start out with our prayer life.

We should pray because prayer is a command…. Private prayer allows us to pour our hearts out to God, and listen to what He is telling us without distractions.

When we pray it allows God to meet our needs. In the Lord’s prayer Jesus teaches us how to pray so God will meet all our physical, psychological, and spiritual needs.  Yes God knows what we want, and He knows what we need. However the bible teaches us that there are some things that God promises to give us only if we ask.

So my question to all of us is what have we not asked God for in our life……..

Praying also releases God’s power in our life. What this means is without Christ we by ourselves can do nothing of a spiritual or eternal significance.  We must come to realize all that we have comes from above. All that we are, or can ever hope to be is because of Christ. It is not about us. It is about Christ. It is by His power and His might. It is because He is on the inside of us. He is working all things out for our good and His Glory.

Let us all understand that God can accomplish whatever He wants on this earth.  Therefore the fact that He in His great wisdom, purpose, or will for our life has chosen us to do anything is truly a privilege. He could create anyone else to do what He has called us to do.

I am both Blessed, and privileged to serve God as a pastor, teacher and author. The amazing thing is that he did not have to use me. He could have picked anyone. He could have used thousand of other that could do it better than I. But he loves me so much that this is the plan that He had for my life. In spite of all my weaknesses and shortcomings, He still loves, and uses me. He gives me the great privilege of serving Him.

When we pray we have to realize that God is God, and I am His Servant. This means that God is not our errand boy, or our personal santa claus.

Prayer is not a time for us to make our demands of God. It is a time when we as redeemed sinful servants speak to our Holy, loving forgiving God.  We must never forget that God is a King with a kingdom.  Our purpose here on earth is to help bring His kingdom here. We are not suppose to attempt to set up our own kingdom. Again remember it is all about Him not us.

We all must become great men, and women of prayer.  Moses and Joshua made a difference in the world because they both were great men of prayer and realized God is God and we are His servants.

We shouldn’t pray to get God to serve us, rather we should pray so we can better serve God.

Prayer is a time when God wants to develop your attitude. ( read Psalms 86)

In closing we should not worry about the length of our prayers. It is a time for us to talk to God from our heart.  It is a time for us to be honest and open with God. The length of you prayer does not make them powerful.  God accepts but long and short prayers and both are scriptural.

He does not want us putting on a show. He is interested in each of us. He longs for a close personal relationship with all of us.   A short prayer could be as simple as: Lord save me ……..

Have you talked to Him today?

Have you studied His word today?

Have you meditated on His word today?

It’s not to late. He stands with arms open wide………….

To God Be The Glory In All Things

Be Blessed
