John 10:9, I am the door: by me if any man enter in, shall behaved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Christ is the door , not only for God’s elect to enter into the custody of the law as did Moses, David, Isaiah and Jeremiah. As in the old Testament time, before Christ came, but also for God’s chosen people such as Peter, John, James and Paul to come out of the fold of the law. Now that christ has come, the Lord indicated here that he is the door not only through which God elect may go in. But also through which God chosen people must come out of the law and come into him to enjoy, him as their pasture, Christ is food here for the elect and God’s and God’s chosen people.
But before faith came, we were kept under the law shut up unto the faith which should after ward be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster, but under faith through Jesus Christ, being justified by his death and resurrection. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. The response of faith is necessary, faith in Christ to save and in the Holy Spirit to sanctify. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in us all.
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
