The church that is marked by love exemplifies the life of Christ, this is the greatest of all gifts given by God to the church, when a congregation is marked by internal conflict, it dose not reflect the life of Christ. Paul as an apostle he was concerned about the continual misuse of spiritual gifts in the church as Corinth. In his letters, he addressed this matter at length, at the heart of his instruction to the church is the truth that without love any gift is empty. Paul closed Chapter 12, 1 Corinthians with the introduction of a more excellent way, love is supreme for the christian believer, if there is no love, if does not matter what else one can do in the way of ministry. speaking in the languages of earth and even of heaven is useless if that gift in not wrapped in the spirit of love. One may have the gift of prophecy or even the gift of faith but it is useless without the accompanying gift of love. Faith can move mountains but still needs love to make it effective in the church. There are godly people everywhere, and some of them are even willing to sacrifice their lives for others: but without love, it would be meaningless. As a church we need to show that love is the identifying mark of the faithful christian believer, love gives value to all the other gifts, as christians, we must be marked by the gift of love, the highest gift of all. If we asked you what love is like, we all would give different answers. Paul taught us in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13:4, that love is very patient, kind, not envious, and not proud, love dose not get irritated easily, love is able to show grace to others by putting up with them. Love dose not keep a logbook of all wrongs that others have dose, love feels sad when others get hurt and suffer injustice. Love is happy for others when they do well, gifts used in love, God will use. there is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear: Because fear bath torment, he that feareth is not made perfect in love. God gave gifts for the building of his church, we see many of those gifts in use today, as we use our gifts in god’s service, we must exercise them in the love of God. If love is essential to the success of the church, we need to know what it looks like. Paul began with a basic description ” charity, suffered, and kind, long suffered, meaning is patient. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three, but the greatest of these is charity.
