THE NEED TO REPENT

Matthew 9:10-13

9. And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. 10. And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 12. But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13. But go ye and learn what that meaneth , I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Salvation is only for those who have, the key necessary for obtaining the gift of God. The key is very simple, but can be very difficult for some to use. Salvation directly correlate to repentance Jesus and John both taught repentance for the kingdom of God, which is that salvation is at hand. This is a simple key, but many are still trying to live with their sins rather that they turn from their sins. It take more than just admitting we are sinners there has to be a valid turning from trying to live a sinners life. Repentance is a sincere turning from our sin, with a not to engage or gaze upon with desires of the heart” lust for the sin. The desires of our hearts will always tell God if we are sincere in our repentance and deserving of his forgiveness of our sinful state. God desires that all people be saved, but the choice is up to humankind whether they are forgiven or not. One of the greatest focal points of Jesus, ministry was the forgiveness of sins. Paul wrote “for all have sinned and fall short of this gospel, Matthew purposely did not say that it was his house or that it was he who had made the great feast for the Lord, this displayed his humility. This unnamed woman exemplified her sorrow by her actions. Brother and Sister repentance is the best way to exemplify our desire to be forgiven for our sins. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Now this woman came to Jesus uninvited by the host, but it was her heart’s desire for forgiveness that led her to  Jews feet. She did not come demanding, but with the humility of heart and resolve of mind that she needed forgiveness. IN Luke 7:36-37, 45-46. And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisees house, and sat down to meat. And behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisees house, brought an alabaster box of ointment. Thou savest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. She did not just ask forgiveness, but displayed her request through her actions. Jesus forgiveness the woman and complimented her on her faith. the  heavens are glad when one of the lose children of God is returned and reconciled with God. Jesus forgive the woman sin after she exemplified true repentance. Now the Pharisees saw this they said unto his disciples, why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners. Now the Pharisees are been self-center and self-righteous. Jesus said I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. The Lord’s word here implies that the self-righteous Pharisees did not realize that they needed him as a physician. It is one things to ask for forgiveness but it is another thing for one to show that he/she desire to be forgiven. Jesus asked the question of the profitability of one’s gaining the world but losing his/her soul in the process. True repentance is the willingness to be of humble use and allowing ourselves to be denied those things that would have entangled us in a web of deceit while seeking good. When we are humble and seek after God as this woman did, we must do it with the spirit of repentance, which is to turn from our ways and seek after his ways. Mercy is part of the grace that man receives from God. But the self-righteous man do not like to receive mercy or grace from God: they prefer to give some thing to God. This is contrary to God way in this economy, Just as God desires to show mercy to pitful sinners, so he want us to show mercy in love to other.
