Sometimes we find ourselves disappointed in the behavior of people we respect. Whenever that happens we are usually tempted to attach ill feelings to our disappointment. Feelings like, “I can’t believe they would do me like that”, or “Now that they have done this to me, there is no telling what else they’ll do to me.
Psalm 118:8 provides “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.” This is a simple reminder that at the times we find ourselves disappointed in man, is the exact times to remind ourselves of the refuge God offers us.
When people disappoint us, they are being who they are. Our disappointment in them is based on them not being who we want them to be. We need to learn to accept people where they are and stop trying to make people fit our mold for them.
To accept people where they are we must place our relationship with them in Gods hands. All of our relationships. When we trust God to have his way in our relationship with others, God is able to meet every need that arises, no matter the situation or circumstance. More importantly, when we trust God in our relationship with others, he is sufficient to meet all our needs.
