Amos 5:14-15

Seek good and not evil, that you may live; and so the lord, the God of host, will be with you, just as you have said. Hate evil and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, the God of host, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

We have to seek good, go after what is good on purpose because God will not be apart of anything that is evil. God wants to be your partner. God wants to use your hands and feet and mouth and eyes and ears and smell. The spirt needs a body as a partner. But it has to be a body that is seeking good , not a perfect body. Why we must seek good is because studies have shown that at the age of 6 months babies can barley sit up-let along take their first tottering steps crawl or talk, But according to psychologists, they have already developed a sense of moral code, and can tell the difference between good and evil. There is a battle for the mind. Romans 12:2 ‘ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God`s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. Philippians 2:5 ‘Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Why do our mind have to be transformed? Because of sin in the world, we have or had the DNA of Adam, but now we have had a blood transfusion, all old blood out and new blood in. The blood that saved you and me from eternal death. But now we must get our mind right with God, if God is going to use us in His vineyard. We can not camp out with the devil and God at the same time. What is the mind of Christ?
the example of our Lord Jesus Christ is set before us. We must resemble him in His life, if we would have the benefit of His death. Christ mind in you does not mean among you, not next to you but in you, in your heart. Jesus was the supreme example of unselfishness and humility. We have to love what He loved, and to hate what He hated. The thoughts, desires, motives,of the Born Again Christian should be the thoughts, desires, motives, which filled the sacred heart of Jesus Christ our Lord. We must strive to imitate Him, to reproduce his image. God wanted the Nation of Israel to be an example of Himself to all the other Nations.
Just like today God wants you to be example to show someone the God in you. Israel faield, God prophet delivered a message to God`s people living in Judah and Israel. God`s people had sinned so often that sin and abusing and mistreating people became the way of life. They started to camp out with the devil. They profaned God`s Word by ignoring the Ten Commandments and other laws. They profaned God`s Word to suit their egos, motives, and selfish desires.
Let`s try to avoid being like those Israelites listening to Amos prophecy. Amos said that an All-Seeing God will see everybody`s sins and that we will pay for breaking God`s law. But God will wlways give us a warning and give us time to leave the devil tent. Yes God sent Jesus to forgive us for our sins, we are forgiven, but God wants us to have the good life. The text says that if we want to live and see the goodness of the Lord on this side of the river we must seek good and not evil.Paul sums up love and justice. Don`t sleep with another person`s spouse, don`t take someone`s life, don`t take what isn`t yours. Love other people as well as you do yourself. Now go and do the right thing.
God, we praise you for being a loving, kind, giving, and all knowing God. Even when we sinned you loved and still had our backs. Lord we ask you to send the Holy Spirit to help me pack my suitcase and leave the devil camp.
