There is a battle being waged every day in your life.
It is an unavoidable spiritual battle that affects every area of our life.
Tragically , many Christians are totally unaware of the clashing forces within them.
There was an old show on TV called the Flip Wilson show. The famous line that Flip used to say: ” the devil made me do it”.
Paul in the book of Romans 7:18-20 put it this way, ” Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it ,but sin that dwells in me.”
The inner war is a conflict between the flesh and the Spirit.
Every believer has two natures.
You have an old nature, the Adam nature you received at birth- it is in your genes.
You have a new nature, the Spiritual nature that was given to you when you were born again.
These two natures are in constant conflict because they are incompatible and irreconcilable.
” For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the Flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish” ( Galatians 5:16)
The godly apostle Paul knew about this conflict.
Much of the battle is won just by realizing that the struggle exists.
The moment you are born again, sin becomes like an exiled ruler.
It is no longer King !
However, sin still manages to survive and dwell in our unredeemed flesh.
It is like killing a snake if you chop it in half, both halves will still move like it is alive.
We are dead to sin, but it is still moving and we do not have to react to it.
God has given us a plan for victory: ” walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” ( Galatians 5:16).
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away: behold , all things are become new. You have already won.
Now go walk by faith, and not by feelings .
