THY WILL BE DONE – ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN
“Thy will be done” is the very doorway into the kingdom of God. Your relationship to Jesus is determined by one thing – doing the will of God. “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” (Matthew 12:50)
“Thy will be done”crucifies the flesh and sets the standard that pits your fleshly will against God’s will.
You need to crucify your flesh and do the will of God. This needs to happen daily, and it needs to be done totally because self – will is spiritual cancer.
“Thy will be done” is a call to battle! It is a pledge to wage an all – out war on evil.
“Thy will be done” is a confession that following God’s will is possible.” Let those who love the Lord hate evil.” (Psalms 97:10)
Jesus lived one reason, and that was to do the will of God, His Father– dying on the cross for our sins. Christ’s obedience brought Him to His highest potential. God wants you to reach your highest potential to. You can know the perfect will of God for your life through the Word of God. God’s perfect will is what He intended for you.
God tells us how to totally surrender our lives – our minds, wills and emotions – to His direction and will in (Romans 12:2).” Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
We must change our minds. Literally. We must make a conscious choice to listen for God’s voice and seek His guidance. His Word promises, “if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5)
We must take time to evaluate our thoughts and line them up with the Word of God as commanded in (2 Corinthians 10:5).”We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
And finally, we must submit to God’s timing – even when we do not understand. For God does not call us to understand but to trust and obey. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) Thy will be done– total surrender.
