Studying the Lord’s Prayer

God will provide for our needs and desires. He wants the very best for us daily. He loves us and wants us to succeed. He wants to give us everything we desire.

God plans to care for us. He instructs us not to worry about the material things in our lives. Trusting God in this area requires obedience, patience and faith- believing for that which we do not yet see. It is choosing to depend on God rather than becoming burdened with the cares of this world.

God first spoke of daily supply when the Israelites were traveling through the desert to the Promised Land. They complained of hunger, and God sent manna-a cracker- like substance from heaven.

What did manna represent?

Manna is Jesus Christ, the “Living Bread.”
Manna is white as snow. Jesus was without sin.
Manna is a free gift from God. Jesus was that gift for all of humanity.
Manna was given to all. Jesus came to die for all of our sins.

God explicitly commanded the Israelites to collect only enough Manna for each day and twice as much the day before the Sabbath.

Why the restrictions? God was teaching them to trust and obey, a lesson they were taught repeatedly as they journeyed to their final destination.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

God desires that we die to self-sufficiency and depend on Him for our physical, emotional or spiritual needs. Our human nature constantly strives to be strong. But we must first acknowledge our weakness in order to truly experience the unlimited strength and abundance found only in God.

He promises to meet All our needs. That includes wisdom and guidance, daily provision, financial blessings, protection and physical, emotional, relational and spiritual healing.
